I'm enjoying Mike Moreno's playing a lot at the moment - he's an NYC-based jazz guitarist - http://www.mikemoreno.com

I listen to a lot of Mike Moreno stuff these days. I know he's using a Gibson ES 355 but I'd like to know if anyone here knows anything about his amp and his pedals. I really love his fluid-legato playing and also the fact that you don't really hear much distortion. It seems that lots of players today have that similar type of sound (Rosenwinkelish sound even if Moreno has a different sound I think) that's very different from the 80's jazz guitar sound. Even Jonathan Kreisberg who plays an archtop has a similar type of sound.
Any thought or advice in order to achieve that type of sound? ___________________

I asked Mike about this but I seem to have lost the email. I think he said he used a Mesa Boogie Mk3 with his 335. I can't remember if he said anything about his pedals. That "wistful" type of sound is partly due to a delay pedal - Pete Oxley demonstrated this at Jazz Guitar Weekend last year or the year before.
